Systems Thinking

Hello, I’m Varun.

I’m a technical program manager who loves turning ambiguous, cross-team chaos into clear plans people can actually execute.

I started out as a Programmer because I really wanted to make games. I began my career as a Software Engineer in the gaming industry before making the jump to Project Management. It’s been a wild ride — I’ve seen the incredible highs of scaling games to millions of players, and the brutal lows of pulling the plug on projects after two years in production.

Through all of that, I realized my favorite place to be is right at the seam between engineering, product, and the harsh realities of shipping. My job isn’t writing the code anymore; it’s making sure we’re building the right thing. It’s about naming the risks out loud so nobody gets a nasty surprise in week eight that we could have easily caught in week one.

Now, I’m taking that mix of creative problem-solving and technical battle scars and translating it into the world of product-based tech!

Why this site exists

I work through a system-design problem and publish the solution, the rationale, and the risks — framed the way a TPM has to frame things: clearly, honestly, and with the failure modes in plain sight. If that’s useful to you too, all the better. Also, to showcase some projects I built to solve problems in my day to day.
